Capesthorne Hall

Dating from 1719, the majestic Capesthorne Hall with its stunning Jacobean style architecture is set in 100 acres of picturesque parkland, with exquisite gardens and chain of three serene lakes.

The gardens feature colourful herbaceous borders filled with a rich array of perennials. They are notable for the late summer fragrance of rosa gallica, rosa rugosa and old moss roses. Visitors can also enjoy the rhododendron woods and walks leading to an arboretum.

Capesthorne Hall is the much-loved home of the Bromley-Davenports whose ancestors have owned the land since Domesday times. The Hall contains a great variety of treasures, fine paintings, furniture, marble, Greek vases and family muniments dating from 1153.

The Hall and Grounds are open to visitors between April and October each year, Sundays, Mondays and bank Holidays. The Gardens and Chapel are open from 12 noon until 5pm. The Butler’s Pantry is open for refreshments from 12 noon until 4.30pm. The Hall is open from 1.30pm until 4.00pm (last admission at 3.30pm).

Please read carefully:

  4. One dog per person
  5. The walk will start at 14:45 and will go in number order

  1. Is it worth adding that extending leads are not allowed and the same person must walk the dog for the duration of the attempt/walk?

    • Hi Lorrie, thank you for your hint, we will amend the Ts&Cs about the same person rule, on the extended lead, we will discuss it with the other members of the organization first 😀

  2. Random question.

If I register one dog and 3 people. What happens if we get another beagle before then? Can we amend then booking to two dogs two people? I was surprised when my hubby asked me….. maybe another beags for my birthday 😉

  3. It is only giving me the option of reserving 1 ticket. Is that 1 dog or 1 human? We are a couple who wish to bring our beagle. What do I need to do???

  4. Beagles under 1 years old can still take part in the walk in their own special VIP (very important pup) group. They will not be added to the count but will have a great day out with all the other beagles.

  5. I understand that tickets must be bought before 28th February 2018 or you cannot attend. Is this correct? And where does it state this information?

  6. I’m coming with 2 Beagles but only me. Can I find a spare human to walk my second dog? Else, can I walk both of mine knowing that they’ll only count as one.

    • Hi Lee,
sorry for the late reply, the rule is 1 beagle – 1 person, there will be spare walkers on the day in a designated area near the start of the official walk so one of them can walk with you and your second beagle.

  7. Hi, I would like to bring my Beagle Alice to do the walk, but I have another dog which is a Bearded Collie “Pip”. Can the Bearded Collie come to the event and not leave her at home alone, but not join in the walk and stay with the other family at the event?

  8. I can see that we need proof that they are in fact a beagle. My beagle doesn’t have any papers though. What else could I use please? (I’ve had a look through Ts&Cs but couldn’t find any info)

    Many thanks

    • Hi Charlotte,
it is the n. 1 rule in the “walk rules” tab:

A proof of breed document is required, this could be either a vaccination certificate, Kennel Club document, microchip paper issued by a vet or a letter headed paper hand written from your vet, signed and dated, saying: “I certify that (name of the beagle) is a beagle and over the age of 1 years old and is fit and healthy to take part in an event”

  9. I have a beagle and will be coming however there is a possibility that there maybe someone else with me who has two golden retriver / poodle cross breeds dogs. How would this work re tickets and on the day?

    • Hi Cindy,
tickets are per family, so if you are two families you will need two tickets. Of course the “non-beagle” dogs will not be able to participate to the official walk, but they can play around and enjoy the day.

    • Hi Claire,
I am sorry, but unfortunately only beagles with a proof of breed are allowed to the offical walk, this is the rule number 1 for the attempt. However, your pup is more than welcome to enjoy the day and have fun with everyone all around!

  10. Hi I would like to bring my beagle with my daughter who is 18yr and my son who is 13yr. How many tickets do I need and can we all participate in the walk?

    • Hi Geraldine,
you will need only one ticket, however only one person per beagle can do the official walk, unfortunately this is a Guinness rule that we have to follow. The walk lasts only 20 minutes.

  11. Hi im poss coming with my beagle and hubby, due to illness i cant hold bailey for that long so hubby will hold him but does that mean i cant walk with them??

    • Hi Sam,
I am afraid you will have to wait at the end of the walk, the rule is one person per dog or we will be disqualified. Sorry this is a strict rule from Guinness.

  12. Sorry if this is stated somewhere but had a look at couldn’t find any info on parking? Is parking included in the ticket price? And would a camper van be allowed? We’re thinking about getting a small van for the weekend.

    • Hi Hannah,
you can park with the camper van in the parking area and parking is included in the ticket. However you can’t camp over night on the event field as that would need to book direct with Capesthorne.

  13. Do we only need the one ticket if we are two humans and one beagle? I could then be a spare walker for anyone who has two dogs? 🙂

    • Hi Niamh,
yes you will need only 1 ticket. For the spare walker, at the registration desk at the entrance you will be given a lanyard and there will be a designated area near the start of the walk for extra walkers

    • Hi Gavin,
the £ 23 ticket are for the entrance, the parking and the participation to the official walk for the record attempt. All money raised will go to the two charities.

    • Hi Sam,
we have more than 880 beagles already registered for the official walk, the remaining tickets will remain unsold and unfortunaely there won’t be as much money for the two charities

      • So they won’t stay unsold then as you have now started selling them again. Always thought it was a stupid idea to only sell until the end of February. Last year I had a least 12 people mention the world record attempt during the week of the event and they had only just heard of it.

        • We have released 100 tickets more available till the end of March. Once those are gone, there will be no more possibility to buy a ticket and no admittance at the entrance without a ticket. We can’t leave the tickets open till near the event because we need to know in advance how many people, dogs and cars are involved for logistic reasons and costs involved.

  14. Hi,

Is family as group of 4 people (we’ve no kids)? The inlaws are talking about coming need to know if they need a separate ticket?

  15. Hi my we have two Beagles in the family. My husband and will be coming however my son and his two children live with us. Will they need a separate ticket?

  16. Hi, I have just purchased a ticket for the event and about to print it and it’s just disappeared! I have written all the details down but worried you won’t accept the information on the day ! Marie Rooney.

  17. Hi, I’ve sorted my ticket now as it was sent to my email! Panic over , see you there , very excited Beagle person . Marie Rooney.

  18. Sorry just one day late – can we still buy tickets? Only just found out from a lady walking her beagle this morning

  19. Hi, I have only just heard about this event today, so missed the deadline to purchase a ticket before 28th Feb. Is there still a way I can buy a ticket? I have one beagle who would love to take part!

    • Hi Laura,
there is no minimum age required, however the handler needs to complete the entire walk from the start to the finish, the lead cannot be passed from a person to another, so if you have a child who wants to walk your beagle please make sure they can walk them for the entire walk or they might be disqualified

  20. Hi,

I just bought the tickets but I realised just after that I filled the form saying that I will bring 1 beagle, however I’m coming with a puppy. Hope it doesn’t cause you any inconvininece…

  21. Hope this isn’t too daft a question but where do you get the order form for merchandise?, I cannot seem to find it anywhere on the site! Thanks in advance.

  22. Hi,

Are tickets still available? some comment are saying no but this site says 63 are still open?
If they are still available how many tickets do we need for 2 adults and 2 dogs? I read somewhere 1 tickets covers this.

    • Hi Tim,
after the 28th of February we have release 100 more tickets only till the end of March. So they are still available till they finish and till the end of this month.

  23. Hi, I attended and took part last year and I’ve just seen that the tickets have now sold out. Is it possible to attend the event to take part in the carnival atmosphere without taking part in the official walk.

  24. Hi, can I just clarify. I’ve seen posts saying it’s one ticket per family and then saying it’s one Beagle per person. We have two people and one Beagle, is this ok for both people to walk?
Also do we have to provide proof that the pup is in fact a Beagle? Does this need to be dated?
